LET’S…..

…GET TO WORK…

dog slated to be killed because he was no longer wanted.

Unfortunately,
thousands of dogs and cats will be euthanized tomorrow.

Many perfectly healthy, sweet, with out fault.
Some will get gassed like Jews during the Nazi regime,
others will be (if  ‘lucky’) sedated, and then a needle will be rammed into their heart.
Others will get a needle in the leg
“they” like to call that the most humane method of murdering animals.

What they all have in common is that they are HUMAN WASTE.

Discarded by a

  • family that had to move, but couldn’t be bothered to search until they could find housing for ALL their family members,
  • bimbos who had to copy Paris and Nichole and Britney and had to have their own little purse dog. These dogs were born in concentration camps, have a couple of months of questionable fun and then they’re dumped to die at a death camp. How truly cruel is that?!! Think about it for a moment.
  • because the boy/girlfriend is allergic,
  • ohhhh -my favorite: they’re having a baaaaaby…so let’s dump the furkid.
  • Backyard breeders who thought they could breed and make a couple of quick bucks.

All these people dump their animals at the pound, and then WE are expected to clean up after them.

yes - YOU!

There’s got to be a better way.
I am hoping someone will take a few off death row.
Let’s Adopt!USA is in the process of taking in a few dogs from a high kill shelter in Northern CA.

We want to do more – but we need more volunteers and fosters.

The “ohhhhs” and “aaaahs” about dogs sitting
on death row are not cutting it.
We need action!!!!

We need people who will open their homes to one of these creatures.

A safe place, a spare room, some good meaty bones and a little chicken for the summer…

Is that too much to ask for?
I wonder……

  • I find your comment about “they” ‘like to call that the most humane way of murdering animals’ very offensive. “They” are people like me who work in a shelter and on occasion have to Humanely Euthanize animals when we have no choice but to take them with no room available. You are right, some people do look at pets as “disposable” but we do not! I work with some of the most devoted animal lovers, but we can’t save them all! We just don’t have the resources. I do believe that Euthanasia by injection is the most humane method of relieving them of their suffering. The possible alternatives if we turn them away is much more disturbing. I think it is great that you are advocating adoption. More people should. But in the meantime, “they” are doing everything they can to save these homeless animals and do not need the added weight of being labeled as murderers!

    • Anna, it is impossible to please everybody and certainly we are not about to start padding things up to make them more palatable.
I don’t doubt you have the best intentions but as of today you are a cog in a corrupt system. A system that has been accepted as the status quo in that, in a few years from now it will be regarded as an abherration and repelled by everyone including yourself.
I suggest you leave that place inmediately, get another job at a no-kill shelter or join a movement like ours. Start saving lifes, make change, stop being part of the this monstrous system that has made animal lovers turn into nazi murderers.

    • Anna as the original author of this blog I wanted to add a few things Viktor already brought up.
“They” are the people in charge, the city leaders, the pound managers …it extends all the way to the state and federal level.
I passionately disagree with your assessment of human euthanasia. Are these animals suffering? Absolutely, but do they need to be put down? Absolutely not! What needs to happen is education, low/free spay/neuter options in each community with tax incentives for participating vets/clinics.
The pounds needs to be improved. It can’t be that a metro area with a population of over 1 Million has only 30 kennels available. It can’t be that these kennels have a continuous noise level that exceeds any human standards – with a dog’s or cat’s sensitivity being much higher, I am surprised ears aren’t bleeding.
      Viktor is right.
Get a job at a no-kill shelter and/or become and advocate for the creatures you handle every day.
“Having to euthanize on occasion” isn’t a valid explanation. You are murdering a perfectly healthy animal, whether you follow instructions or not, doesn’t make a difference. You have become part of the machine.
Some people in Nazi camps were just following instructions too…that’s how the horror was possible in the first place.
Get off your “I am insulted” ride and start thinking about the parallels, Anna.
      It’s sad.
